It's been a while, but I'm back!
I had some upheaval in my life the last few months, but things have settled down and I'm back to working with Tucker P Macaroon on Pushing. I've been playing tug with him the whole time and he's getting better at bringing me the tug when he wants to engage.
One thing that's changed is that he's now the only dog on the property (other than the kennel dogs, but they have their own yard) and he and I have been Pushing for his meals at least once a day for a week. I notice a huge improvement in his attentiveness when we are in the yard as well as when we are at the dog parks, etc. Tonight, when we got home from doing errands in town, he was in alert mode and barking at some unknown sound. I called "Ready!" and as soon as he turned to look at me (he was about 75 feet away) I said "Push!" and he came running! I gave him a nice piece of duck jerky (his favorite) and ushered him inside. Because it's been a while since I've been on the forum, I want to make sure I'm still on the right track.
Another thing that has changed is that I'm slowly putting up visual barriers along the boundaries where the neighbor dog (Buddy the Healer menace) has access. They still fence fight, but it's because they can still hear each other, not see each other. Since I can't do anything about Buddy, and I can do something about Tucker, I'm focusing on the latter.
