Hi guys I thought it was about time I gave everyone an update on how well the NDT is going.
The differences in the last two months have been nothing but amazing, there is not a day goes by at the moment when I suddenly realise Ty didn't do this or that or he coped with something he wouldn't have a year ago. Only yesterday we were cutting up wood in a paddock when Ty suddenly charged towards the neighbors steers, it was like OH NO, Ty was just about under the fence when I called TY HERE and he turned on a dime. I will admit I couldn't believe it but had to move real quick to find a pinecone and throw it for him. I was so rapped. Also over the last few weeks we've had some very interesting dog encounters, I have had him on lead, let him vent and bark at the dog and then realised he hadn't lunged, the lead was loose and then he'd turn to me for resolution, those have been WOW WOW WOW. It's also the massive settling in everything he does, he's learnt to chill out and not jumping around like a jack in the box all the time, boy does that make life easier and more relaxed. It was a year ago I finally gave up any other ideas of dog training and concentrated on NDT, I want to thank Neil, Kevin and Lee for all the wonderful information they put out there to help the likes of myself and Ty but a special thanks to Sang for his guidance, help and support at the times when I just wanted to give up. So anyone that might be struggling with NDT don't give up, it is SO worth it, I'll never stop learning from this dog but man what a fantastic journey |

Thank you for the reminder, Chris!
I'm amazed at Tucker's progress in general over the past year, but I do credit a lot of his newly focused on me behavior to NDT. Not only has it helped Tucker, but it's helped me, too. The other day at the dog park, I met a woman who was surprised that Tucker was my first dog. She mentioned that I seemed so confident with Tucker, and I told her about NDT and the wonderful results we've been getting. |

That's great news Drea, and it's wonderful that other dog folks notice Tucker and you are able to spread the word about NDT. I'm also now getting folks mention the difference they have seen in Ty which gives me an opportunity to also spend the word.

Glad to read this today. I feel like mine and Jinxsie's training and relationship is falling apart and it's always good to hear about other people's successes.

Just don't give up, it's taken a year for me to see these improvements and I've lost count of the times I just wanted to give up.

One time Sang said that it is often when things seem to be at their worst that is actually when there is a big leap of progress in the works (something like that, I'm paraphrasing!) I have found this to be true. Also I've found that even as things cycle up and down, from really clicking to falling apart, over a long period of time (and I've only been at this for 6 or 8 months, so "long" is not that long) it is truly amazing how much better things are overall. And how much more fun I'm having overall, which translates into being more relaxed and confident. For me realizing that there is a group mind, not the dog as an independent entity to be reasoned with or controlled, makes it easier for me to weather the difficulties (because they are my own issues, not the dog's issues).
