Hello from Vermont,
I live here with two dogs, one closing in on sixteen. I adopted "Farmer" formerly "Helga" almost 3 years ago. She is reactive with dogs ( most of her 12 years was spent tied to a tree ) and fabulous with people. I've not done any training with her, life here is quiet and simple, she does well having a full belly and a daily stroll. : Dru is very different! He's a bundle of 11 month energy and such a delightful young dog. We live at the end of a dead end road about a mile from any road with regular traffic. The perfect place to raise a puppy! When i first got Dru we didn't do much NDT as he got closer to 7 months we started with some diligence playing tug, pushing, using distractions and making sure he has plenty of quiet time. He get's one or two pups to play with each week. He loves to play and neither is great at predator/prey play but he seems to enjoy the interactions. With winter we don't do much pushing - I'm not going freeze my hands off. ![]() It doesn't seem to bother him much as he's all set with his TUGGING. It's been fabulous and joyful watching him grow so far and I look forward to continuing the journey & using NDT with him. Oh, and did I mention, he's is absolutely stunning! If the photo attaches that's Dru in a full run so he can get his "bite", I mean tug. ![]() Leslie |
