Default how do you teach "stand"?

I have a question about teaching my dog to stand from the sit or down. Our box training is coming along nicely (and quicker than I expected) but I find that now when Jinxsie settles on the box, she goes into a sit and I can't figure out how to get her to stand and settle on the box. Food lures don't work because when I try to get her to stand by moving a piece of food away from her nose, she settles deeper into a sit (which, in a sense, is a good thing). Any suggestions?

Default teaching the "stand"

What I usually do is put a treat under the dog's nose with one hand, put the other hand under his belly, as close to the hips as I can get, and gently lift him back up into the stand position and say stand after he's standing while giving him the treat at the same time. This depends a great deal on how well the dog can tolerate being physically put into position, though. That's something you'd have to judge for yourself.

With some dogs if you move away from them in a certain way -- for instance if you put them at the back of the box and then move away, patting your hip or your chest with the treat or toy -- they might stand back up in order to move toward you. You can say stand and praise the dog, then give her the treat.

I hope this helps!

i cant say i've 'trained' my pup to stand, however got her to get up from sit or down position by standing a distance away enough for her to stand and move a step or two. I offer her a treat at her head level while calling her name and saying UP, pausing for her to take initiative and praising as she rises to the floor. I think there may be flaws in this, creating a desire for food upon saying UP, and not quite achieving Standing still when i say up. However when in a medicore drive to leave the house, if i say up infront of the door, she will simply stand waiting to exit.
