Default Sigmund Freud & the Art of Dog Training, II

My latest article at PsychologyToday.com.

My conclusion that Freud's theories are relevant to dog training started with a dog who obsessively licked the doorknob for at least 20 minutes every time someone left or entered the apartment she lived in.

Was she dominating the doorknob? Had someone once opened it with bacon grease on their hands, and she had somehow become "conditioned" to do this? Or was there an internal need that had been repressed during puppyhood, that was now coming out in altered form?

I love your articles, Lee. I don't know much about psychology, but the synergies in these different fields are very interesting!
