Default be the Moose, terrify Remy?

For some reason this never occurred to me before, but Remy has encountered moose signs. It's before we were using NDT, a few years ago we worked in Maine for a month.

Remy got a whiff of the moose scat and he backed up like the moose was right there, he backed up real fast. He then circled it, got closer and closer in a very cautious manner. He finally gave it a good sniff, a look of concern came on his face and his eyes met mine. I don't believe he wanted to meet the moose. Every time he came across moose scat the look of concern crossed his face, and I always thought he was feeling he wanted nothing to do with the monster that made that poop.

I only saw a moose once, it was from the car and at a good distance. Remy did not seem to see it. So as far as I know, he never saw an actual moose. He never wandered far from me in the woods of Maine, the other field crew members would mockingly call him a momma's boy, back then he wouldn't go much more than 30' from my side before running back to me.

Deer pellets he'll eat or roll in (if I don't stop him first), coyote scat he eagerly over-marks, but moose scat was always treated with cautious respect.
