Default Is rawhide/beefhide ok for dogs?

I heard white rawhide is not good for dogs mainly because it has formaldehyde.
A local pet shop owner said the it can easily collect in a dogs stomach and cause problems and/or require an operation to remove what can collect in the stomach.
Is this true or not?
Thanks,
Velo

Default rawhide

Hi. I don't know about the formaldehyde issue but I only buy Good Buddy rawhide made by Castor & Pollux. It's from buffalo hide and is sun-dried. They don't use anything chemical. There may be other brands that are good quality and safe also, but i haven't looked since I'm happy with this company and my dog loves the rawhide. You'd have to talk to a vet or dog nutritionist about amount for your particular dog. And, of course, don't give it to your dog unless you are there to supervise to prevent choking.
