Default Brownie's first thunderstorm with us.

We recently had the first thunderstorm since having Brownie (he's 6: see my other posts for more background if needed). It was in the middle of the night. At what I assume was the first crack of thunder, in a matter of seconds, he jumped on the bed, so I sat up, and he tucked his head down and pressed into my chest and then curled into me as if seeking pressure and shelter at the same time. He continued this with only a few position shifts whenever the thunder would crack louder during the half hour duration of the storm. He was the most calm if I stayed where he could press into me and he could also huddle under me somewhat.
I wonder if I should have gotten up to do some pushing with him but it felt like HE WAS pushing and it didn't seem like a good idea for me to move away from him. Any thoughts? I didn't mind being his grounding wire but I wanna do what's best for him next time if this wasn't it.
